Job Description

A South Indian Chef specializes in preparing traditional and modern dishes from the South Indian states of Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Kerala. This chef is skilled in using regional ingredients and spices to create authentic flavors typical of South Indian cuisine, which is known for its distinct use of rice, lentils, coconut, tamarind, and a wide variety of spices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook a variety of South Indian dishes such as dosa, idli, sambar, rasam, vada, uttapam, appam, puttu, and various rice-based dishes.
  • Manage kitchen operations related to South Indian cuisine, ensuring consistency in taste and presentation.
  • Maintain hygiene and cleanliness standards in the kitchen as per food safety regulations.
  • Monitor ingredient quality, stock levels, and kitchen supplies relevant to South Indian cooking.
  • Innovate and modify traditional recipes to match contemporary tastes and dietary preferences.
  • Train and supervise kitchen staff focusing on South Indian culinary techniques.
  • Collaborate with restaurant management to design menus emphasizing authentic South Indian flavors.
