CSSD technician

The CSSD Technician is responsible for cleaning, disinfecting, sterilizing, packing, storing, and distributing surgical instruments and medical equipment as per hospital infection control standards. The role ensures availability of sterile instruments for OT, ICU, wards, and other hospital departments.

Key Responsibilities

Collection of used instruments and medical equipment from OT and hospital departments. 

Cleaning, decontamination, and disinfection of surgical instruments as per protocol. 

Inspection, assembling, packing, and labeling of instrument sets. 

Operation and monitoring of sterilization equipment such as autoclaves, ETO sterilizers, plasma sterilizers, and washer disinfectors. 

Maintaining sterilization records, logs, and documentation. 

Ensuring proper storage and distribution of sterile items. 

Monitoring expiry dates and stock of consumables related to CSSD. 

Following infection control and biomedical waste management guidelines. 

Reporting equipment malfunction or breakdown to the supervisor immediately. 

Coordinating with OT staff, nursing staff, and biomedical teams for smooth operations. Oversee daily operations of the CSSD department. 

Ensure proper cleaning, disinfection, sterilization, storage, and distribution of medical instruments and equipment. 

Supervise CSSD technicians and support staff, including duty allocation and shift management. 

Ensure compliance with NABH, infection control, and hospital quality standards. 

Monitor operation and maintenance of autoclaves, ETO sterilizers, plasma sterilizers, washer disinfectors, and related equipment. 

Maintain sterilization records, validation reports, and departmental documentation. 

Coordinate with OT, ICU, nursing, biomedical, and purchase departments for smooth workflow. 

Develop and implement SOPs for sterilization and infection prevention practices.
